Contract Negotiations Update

From NYCDC: This notice is to inform you that the District Council and Contractors Associations have agreed to extend the current terms and conditions of our contracts until Friday August 12, 2011.

As reported at the August 3rd Emergency Delegate/Executive Board Meeting, the District Council is continuing negotiations for new Collective Bargaining Agreements with the various Associations. After a comprehensive briefing the delegates authorized the supervisors of the District Council to strike if necessary. There is no strike or any other job action authorized at this time. In the event that a strike becomes necessary all Local Affiliates, District Representatives, Shop Stewards and Members will be notified. Thank you for your cooperation during these difficult times.

Be advised that for all work performed under the jurisdiction of the New York City District Council of Carpenters the terms, conditions, wage and benefit rates will continue through August 12, 2011.

(John's Note: informed sources say the Contractor Associations are looking for a four dollar per hour give back.)

  1. Nice try NYCDCC delegates, but the contracts will be in place before 8/12. Trying to impress who with this strike autorization, certainly not the membership. PR, thats all it is !

  2. On top of the 125+ PLA's whereby you have already agreed to Concession of members wage and benefits averaging $7.50.HR - that does not exactly spell competent negotiating tactics.

It smacks of self dealing from the same side of the table - as a kiss to the Contractor Associations.

Try this - One year Wage Freeze at fully negotiated Current Contract Wage & Benefit rates. The current PLA's will ride you through the storm.

Re-up the Negotiations next June 30th - when the EST, President, VP, Delegates and newly created RO positions are filled and all are seated and in place; or does the UBC International fear having the men lead their own affairs under the Council Local system?

Are you afraid that they'll purge the last remnants of the Unity Team and other long known corrupt players?

Are you afraid you won't be able to game the system & bullshit the Court with more False Promises?

McCarron, your last Restructuring Plan was a miserable failure and it resulted directly in the August 5, 2009 FBI Indictments, Trials, Convictions and Sentencing - correct?

Or, did you think everyone forgot that debacle which you created and failed to manage for 10+ Years?

Your watch baby, your Legacy - not ours!

Time to give the real men their chance in the Fire. Where you fell down on the job (It's all good your honor, trust us, we know what we are doing) - newsflash Doug, Judge Berman is not senile. He is a yound man compared to you.

You can only baffle-em with bullshit for so long Doug & there is pretty much no one left to payoff either, so time to Punt the Ball man!

Go ahead, sign the deal -for $4 dollars an hour lower and the men work $8 dollars an hour slower.

Final Word - who at the Council is suffering through these "difficult times"? Name One?

Are you people that ignorant to insult the men with a line like that?

Business decision - Fire the clown who wrote that puff piece, send him to the back of the OWL & then the dummy will know what suffering is all about!

  3. Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.

I would ask that if you would like to leave a comment that you think of Local 157 Blogspot as your online meeting hall and that you wouldn’t say anything on this site that you wouldn’t, say at a union meeting. Constructive criticism is welcome, as we all benefit from such advice. Obnoxious comments are not welcome.
