A Message from the Review Officer Regarding New District Council Trial Procedures

All members should read the below Trial Procedures, which must be posted on the District Council website with this message.

All local union executive committees must take note of their obligation to democratically select two trial committee members.

Please make note of the following schedule and deadlines:


Friday, July 30, 2010

  • Notice from the Review Officer (“RO”) and District Council to all members of the new charge and trial procedures and of this schedule;
  •  Notice from the RO and District Council to local union executive boards of their obligation to select by majority vote two members to serve on the Trial Committee after receiving nominations;
Friday, August 27, 2010
  • Deadline for selection of Trial Committee members (“TCMs”) with selection notices given to the District Council and RO;
Tuesday, August 31, 2010
  • Deadline for submission to the RO of required TCM affidavits;
Tuesday, September 7, 2010
  • Implementation of the Trial Committee and dissolution of prior DC Trial Committee;
  • Orientation meeting of Trial Committee for all TC members, TC Chairman Walter Mack, TC Vice-Chairman James Zazzali, Review Officer Dennis Walsh and UBC District Council Supervisor Frank Spencer;
Wednesday, September 8, 2010
  • The Trial Committee is fully operational.
