For America's future, Mitt Romney for president

Four frustratingly long years ago, a war-weary and economically battered America took a flier on a savior.

It didn’t work out.

Now, in 12 days, the nation will return to the polls — to reject, or to ratify, the results of the great Barack Obama experiment.

That is, to reject or to ratify the notion that hoping for change is a sound footing for productive national policy.

But, by the evidence, it is not.

It cannot create jobs.

It cannot reduce deficits.

It cannot restore foreign confidence in America — or Americans’ confidence in their own great nation.

America needs more than hope. It needs leadership. That is why The Post today endorses the candidacy of Mitt Romney for president of the United States.

Scrape it down to bedrock, and Mitt Romney knows that there is but one issue in this campaign: America’s woeful economy, and the demonstrated inability of President Obama to cope with it.

Obama says he inherited the mess, but he’s done nothing to fix it. Borrow, spend, regulate and redistribute is not a prescription for sustainable growth, yet that has been the totality of his program.

He says things will get better — soon. But there’s no evidence for that.

Obamanomics has produced:

  • A sky-high national debt, now at a stupefying $16 trillion and growing.
  • Intractable unemployment and a workforce hemorrhaging discouraged workers.
  • No perceptible economic growth.
  • Historic expansion in welfare programs — especially food stamps.
Obama proposes massive tax increases aimed not so much at the rich, as he claims, but squarely at the middle class and small business, which is insane: Small business — the real engine of American job creation — needs to be nurtured, not squeezed dry.

Americans need jobs — jobs for those trying to raise a family, jobs for those who are leaving school, jobs period!

Instead, they are about to be saddled with an unworkable health-care boondoggle that will suck hundreds of billions from a private-sector economy that could better use the cash to create — yes — more jobs!

Can Mitt Romney really turn all this around? Yes, he can.

In the debates, Americans saw a leader.

They saw a man with the experience, the temperament, the principles and the knowledge to address America’s economic woes instead of just blaming others.

After all, as governor of deep-blue Massachusetts, he worked with a Democratic legislature to close a $3 billion deficit without raising taxes or borrowing.

There is one other significant issue.

Four years ago, Obama vowed “to restore America’s standing in the world.” But he has sown rancor and confusion instead.

Our friends don’t know if they’re still our friends; our enemies wonder whether we have the courage to stand up to them.

The result has been a cataclysmic breakdown of US leadership in the Middle East.

Israel — and not just Israel — questions whether Obama is committed to curbing Iran’s nuclear threat.

Syria is in open civil war, while Egypt and Libya teeter on the brink. Osama bin Laden may be dead, but al Qaeda has hardly been contained — as Benghazi tragically proved.

In contrast, the smoke now hanging over the Middle East testifies to Obama’s inability to get the job done.

Any job.

Because, in the end, the fundamental problem is the president’s core philosophy.

He believes in equality of outcome, not equality of opportunity — and that is not how America is supposed to work.

America is not working right now.

For four more years?

We think not.

Mitt Romney for president.

  1. Obamacare - section 1553 Death Squads - yee ha! Which commisar do I report to when the time comes?

Sell your home once it goes into full operation, kick over 3.8% of the Gross Sales price to the commisar. What a freaking scam. Obama owns it all, you didn't build shit, just ask him.

The light bulb, he killed it. Now the Fed's have found that the newly mandated Obama Bulbs give off deadly UV rays, not to mention the scam of their cost & the uptick in people going blind trying to read under thes pieces of junk. Note: The Electric Bill doesn't go down, it's another scam.

Obama's debate line regarding Mitt & JFK was a total joke. JFK got us to the Moon in less than a decade. There is not enough space in this blog to list all the accomplishments of NASA & the space program & this un-articualate alleged Harvard Constitutional lawyer ended it.

A strong Military, screw that, Hussein is de-funding it.

The Economy, he's destroying it - albeit, intentionally.

Coal, Nuclear, Fracking - forget about it, Hussein wants to fuel electricity with hot air & wind, mostly from the Democratice party.

Bowing to Kings & Sheiks, yeah baby. $6.25 a Gallon gas out on the Left Coast - can you say Four More Years? Wait till this useless turd starts the Cap & Trade bullshit with Al Gore & Governor Moonbeam (Jerry Brown); oh what fun that will be watching California implode.

Maybe that's why this asshole is locked & loaded with all that Ammo he recently purchased (3-hollow points per Citizen). What was that, oh yeah, he also passed an Executive Order giving him full authority to declare Martial Law and impose it upon every public & private Corporation & Citizen & use any & all assets confiscated as he decides & as he & his fellow commie rat bastards see fit. (all against your Constitutional Property rights of course)

And you dopes will all lamely, quietly & blindly build signs and do standouts for this piece of shit & shout Four More Years, rah, rah shit boom ba, ye ha, Obama's my hero, he cares about the little folk. Yeah Right!

You all forgot about how he stated "my Muslim Faith"(oop's)& that other quotable line - "the sweetest sound in the world is the call to morning prayer" while touring all the Mosques & praising Allah.

Four More Years My Ass, this clowns gotta go.

  2. You're seriously going to endorse the candidate who wants to make every state a right to work state and who wants to abolish Davis Bacon?

  3. You're wrong on this one John.

  4. "You're seriously going to endorse the candidate who wants to make every state a right to work state and who wants to abolish Davis Bacon?"

Si se puede retard, Yes I am.

Davis Bacon does the Union & the UBC zero good when your man hours are watered down to 800-1,000 per year, per man.

You see dummy, when you work half the year or less, your hourly wage is cut in half, so you are back at $23 bucks an hour or less.

The fact is, Obama is a freaking moron. He is not articulate & has not a clue on how to do anything other than spend other peoples money.

As Reagan said, "the problem with Socialism is eventually you run out of other peoples Money".

You can't defend any of Barry's positions, so it's back to the ole class warfare garbage. Hey dummy, what about your fearless leaders in Washington & the new brood's continual use of PLA's. Funny, all of their wage & benefit cuts never apply to them - only to you & yours.

You sound like a perfect candidate to be a McCarron "helper" or "pre-apprentice" given that you cannot think for yourself.

PLAYSKOOL is over & Barry & the Clintons are going down!

  5. a very poor move. Do you Honestly think McCain or anyone else would/could have done better?

Obama knocked for saving GM/Chrysler/Ford (yes Ford) - imagine the turmoil if GM and Chrysler went oob? PBGC asorbing under funded pensions. Other companies going out of business (affects Ford), car warrenties and dealerships all closing in small communittess. This would be devastating. No private funding was available - even Bain passed on it - the banks were not lending - which forced the Feds to come in. Look at the fallout of letting Lehman fail.

Obamacare - In our industry we should know better how fragile the benefits are - and pre existing conditions.

Financial - we were in trouble - the banking system was over leveraged, and had no funds to deleverage. Citi and AIG are still not solvent. Would the republicans do better - hell no.

Taxes - the only think the R's can propose is cut more taxes - did the Bush tax cuts really stimulate the economy? Did high taxes prevent Carnegie and Rockefeller from becoming successful? Why is it patriotic for the wealthy to engineer their income as capital gains and dividends (to avoid taxes)? Why can investment bankers avoid taxes using carried interest? They Republicans have gotten themselves into a bind - Romney has said he would not take $10 in cuts for $1 increase in taxes. Just like you cannot tax your way out of this, you cannot cut your taxes out of this.

Housing - nuff said - it was free falling - Obama has been able to put a floor on it.

Unemployment - free falling - we are doing a slow reconvery.
Obama came in and was handed a terrible financial problem, housing problem, recession, two wars, etc. He deserves a second term, as he DID stabilize the financial world, housing is off to a good start.

  6. Whoever wrote that column is a total fucking moron. EVERY REPUBLICAN wants to do away with UNIONS you dumb fuck.

  7. The ASS that wrote that column works for and kisses the ass of Rupert Murdoch, the owner of the NY Post and Fox News.
He is an out and out conservative and would love to get rid of the unions.
WAKEUP people-- if Romney gets in then you can forget about the middle class, (remember--that's us, you me and all union members).

  8. What do you expect the Carpenters wanted Bush Jr. LOL, you just made this site laughable John. Hope your friends remember you if Romney get's in and they are working next to undocumented workers on all the Right-to-Work jobs Mitt will create.

  9. I sure will remember John when you run next time and want my vote. What a dumb move for you to post this article. And to think i voted for you John.

I would ask that if you would like to leave a comment that you think of Local 157 Blogspot as your online meeting hall and that you wouldn’t say anything on this site that you wouldn’t, say at a union meeting. Constructive criticism is welcome, as we all benefit from such advice. Obnoxious comments are not welcome.
