MWA Strike Day 12 at the Somerville Company facility

The New York City District Council of Carpenters continues its strike after negotiations broke down with the Manufacturing Woodworkers Association of Greater New York (MWA). The association is seeking an across-the-board wage freeze and a second-tier employee system with lower wages and benefits, while locking members into a 10-year agreement.

    what benefits we have no benefits they took them away from us already!! Who would sign a 10 year contract? would anyone in district council like to sign a 10 year contract for them selves with wage freeze and lower wages and no benefits I THINK NOT!! What's wrong with this picture! We need to unite and take back the UNION!! They are trying to divide and conquer us. Once they do it to one of us they are coming after the other trades BEWARE! UNLESS WE PUT A STOP TO IT AND STAND UP AND SAY NOMORE!! GIVE US BACK WHAT WE WORKED FOR!! STOP STEPPING ON THE WORKING MAN TO GET RICHER!!

I would ask that if you would like to leave a comment that you think of Local 157 Blogspot as your online meeting hall and that you wouldn’t say anything on this site that you wouldn’t, say at a union meeting.
