  2. The UBC violated the rights of 8 others in Albany.7 in Buffalo and 11 of the dockbuilders. Many of those charged in Albany had nothing to do with local #1. Despite these members being told it was ok to jsut come and listen and if there was any trouble form the UBC the IUPAT claiming to speak for the Building Trades and the AFL-CIO would show the world Union members have rights. That turned out to be a lie.Members have been left to fight for themselves in the UBC kangaroo court.Why. Because they refused to affiliate and become a whore local of the IUPAT. Why.Because they refused to allow Duane Moore and the AFL-CIO to pimp them to another trade. All those who are justifiably fed up with the UBC should remember this before falling for this scam.
What the AFL-CIO has done by letting these UBC members, most who simply came to listen to the possibility of a Democratic Union free of McCarrons tyranny, swing in the breeze was show all those thinking about Resolution 70 to beware. They should Beware that when you do exercise your rights under Section 7,The LMRDA and the US Constitution the UBC will persecute you and these groups who coerce you to stand up will run for the hills. That is unless you agree to hand over your skills, your local and your dignity over to some other group of carpetbaggers who dont care about your freedom and democracy but want to use you to gain power and money.
In these trials the UBC Local Officer Mark Sowalski fabricated witnesses and the Trial committee refused to allow it to be entered into evidence. The UBC brought these people to trial in 16 days. They violated the LMRDA,The NLRA and their own constitution in numerous places but that only matters if your lawyer is smart enough to take these clowns out of the UBC Kangaroo court. The IUPAT/Sheetmetal workers lawyer Richard Furlong wanted a minimum of $15,000-25,000 just to start the case and the IUPAT or Moore would not authorize his payment. So much for Duane Moores claim the lawyers are fighting at no cost to members.
Two members were charged based on the fact they were seen in the background of a video leaving a building Local #1 had a meting in early in the evening.Nothing more. One member was charged because at a regularly scheduled UBC 291 meeting he told a local 291 officer he was full of ...Not sure what that has to do with Local #1.One sister had he charges dropped becauase all the witnesses against her signed statements that they never gave any evidence or signed witness statements against her. Ballantyne ordered these people to trial with out ever having reviewed a single witness statement or interviewed a single witness. When questioned at the eboard the accuser admitted he never had them but would get them.

  5. What does telling the IUPAT we will not be their whore local and working to see the IUPAT never dispatched a Carpenter in Albany have to do with thee people or the AFL-CIO,Duane Moore or the lies and deceit of respect our crafts.. Try explaining that structure for all her.

The fact is either you whore yourself to another Interantional or Trumka lets you swing in the breeze. Duane Moore is nothing more than a pimp for the AFL-CIO. Stop all the BS about caring about the working UBC Carpenter and admit your BS

"there is no easy way to change the top leadership of the UBC through the democratic process" This is the mission of Trumka and Moore with Williams in their ass.It is not to help the UBC Carpenter but to use them and dockbuilders as pawns

  6. You chose to go without them, hardly looks like a good decision now. First you lie and get James avelino and Joanne Lein mentioned in a Rico case falsely, she loses her job, he gets expelled, and you get to run your mouth about how smart you are for sending them packing!! Your a real genious

    1. "First you lie and get James Avelino and Joanne Lein mentioned in a Rico case falsely, she loses her job, he gets expelled," Why she lost her job is detailed in her failed NLRB case. The one that Furlong lost

These two got themselves named in a RICO case because of trying to suck on the IUPAT tit. That did not work out for them. They are named because of the IUPAT contact with them.We know that neither Joanne Lein or Avelino were EVER working for Local #1 and Local #1 never received or asked for UBC member information. We also know James Avelinos videos were never made at the request of or on behalf on Local #1
Never have any doubt foolish. We still stand behind the unanimous vote to tell the IUPAT we will not now or ever affiliate with the IUPAT.It was a good decision then and a good one now

  7. We here in NYC are making strides in changing how the UBC deals with us. We remain strong and defiant to those that would see us fail. We are the Carpenters of The NYCDC and Affiliate Locals. We do not "breakaway". This is our house. If there's a problem, we will make every attempt to fix it before choosing to abandon our home.

I would ask that if you would like to leave a comment that you think of Local 157 Blogspot as your online meeting hall and that you wouldn’t say anything on this site that you wouldn’t, say at a union meeting. Constructive criticism is welcome, as we all benefit from such advice. Obnoxious comments are not welcome.
