Below is the governments sentencing memorandum to the court detailing Fordes corruption and urging the court to impose a sentence at the top of the guideline range.
On Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 12:00 p.m Michael Forde, the former Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the New York City District Council of Carpenters and Chairman of the District Council benefit funds, pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to participating in a 15-year racketeering scheme.

When one person is responsible for so much damage to our membership, we should expect thorough restitution. Not getting out of prison with a comfortable life ever after!

ReplyDeleteGiven McCarrons penchant for incessant centralization of authority over working carpenters,Could these Rico convictions reach him? This minimization of delegate to rank and file representation does not bode well in terms of oversight and transparency as an administrative methodology.I hope he and his leadership team are not dirty,however given Forde was reinstated after his last indictment(early 2000's),I'll believe it when I see it.The cavalier attitude of our leadership towards working carpenters is our biggest threat to our movement.we owe rank and file as well as our forefathers so much more!
ReplyDeleteHope this is not the end of this.There are a few more who should be in jail for a long time. Just getting fired and not doing any time won't cut it anymore...
ReplyDeleteand they are only going to garnish 20% of his pension. The Feds think this is fair, given the large size of his pension. They should be ashamed of themselves.
