Open Letter To Review Officer Dennis Walsh

By Steward Ad-Hoc Committee

After much deliberation and angst regarding the recent appointment of Scott Danielson to the newly created position of Inspector General, and after setting aside potentially biased suspicions of Steward Workshop manipulations while Steward Workshops were under his administration; the Steward Ad-Hoc Committee has reached a unanimous decision and has therefore composed the following statement.

It behooves us at the Steward Ad-Hoc Committee that the District Council has found it befitting that Scott Danielson, under whose watch the Out of Work List (OWL) Rules were so rampantly violated, be appointed as Inspector General.

Mr. Danielson, in our collective opinion, is at the very least GUILTY of GROSS NEGLIGENCE of his fiduciary duties to the Rank and File MEMBERS who LANGUISHED on the OWL. THOUSANDS of our members over several years SUFFERED economic hardships due to Mr. Danielson's indifference to their plight.

Whether or not, as circulated rumors have it, that "Danielson was working in conjunction with government officials investigating violations of the OWL during his tenure", his primary function and responsibility as Director of the OWL was to ensure fairness for members on that list, and not to any internal or external investigators.

To place the membership’s rights second to any other cause is and was, a flagrant abuse of his discretion over these members’ ability to earn a living as Union Carpenters.

In this respect Mr. DANIELSON HAS FAILED THE MEMBERSHIP MISERABLY.

To reward him by appointing him Inspector General is a grave insult to the OWL Martyrs left in Mr. Danielson's wake.

We adamantly urge the Review Officer, Mr. Walsh, to re-evaluate the decision to appoint Mr. Danielson to such an important and influential position, one with the potential to greatly impact the course of the New York City District Council of Carpenters’ future.

Mr. Walsh, this appointment, if it stands, threatens to greatly diminish the newly found faith the Rank and File have in your office. We urge you to consider this factor before dismissing the pleas of the membership and/or before making a decision in this urgent matter.

  1. Thank you brother John for cross-posting our statement.

We urge all members with complaints regarding Scott Danielson's supervision over the OWL to voice their concerns in writing to R. O. Walsh as soon as possible.

Furhtermore, any Stewards that feel their Stewardship was unjustly or intentionally delayed by Danielson while he administered the Steward Workshops should also submit their complaints.

If you expect a favorable decision by the R. O. then you must arm him with the necessary information so that he can come to a just decision.

Again, thank you John for providing the rank & file this much needed "soap box" from which to voice their concerns.

  2. THE CONCERNS OF HIS HANDLERS WAS ALWAYS PARAMOUNT COMPARED TO THAT OF THE RANK AND FILE......HIS ONLY RECORD--NO QUALIFYCATIONS, OBLIVIOUS TO NEEDS OF MEMBERS, PRIVATE DETECTIVES LIC., INCREADIBILY WEAK, INSIDE MAN, CONTROVERSIAL, INCUMBENT LOOSER, TOP $$$MAN ON UNION PAYROLL, IDLE YEARS SITTING IN UNIONS FRONT OFFICE SHUFFLING NEWS/PAPERS HE FOUND ON THE BENCH OF THE DAY ROOM. THEN THE ARRIVAL OF THE INTERNATIONAL 1988/89 AND HE BECAME THEIR SUBSERVANT EMPLOYEE (PUPPET ON A STRING) THEY USED HIM WELL. HE FITTED THEM LIKE A PAIR OF THIGHTS. THEN HE SPENT 2 MONTHS AT LU 135 OFFICE IN UNION SQ. ASSISTING INT. REPS. PILLAGE THE PLACE. AS FIN. SEC. OF LU 257 HE TRANSFERRED THAT LOCALS TREASUARY TO THE INT. FOR ORGANISING IN LAS VEGAS. IN 1999 AS THE REFORMER MEMBERS STRUGGLED TO GET LU 157 UP AND RUNNING FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE RANK AND FILE HE RAN AGAINST THEM. NOMINATED FIN. SEC. BY DENNIS NUZZO FOR NASTASI, THE DON DANIELSON RAN SOLO IN A SHALLOW BID TO HOLD ON TO THAT LOCALS FINANCES FOR THE INT. THANKFULLY HE WAS DEFEATED BY A RANK AND FILE MAN BROTHER WILLIAM WALSH FROM BROOKLYN AND THE WILL OF THE MEMBERS PREVAILED, BUT NOT FOR LONG, THE INT. INSTALLED HIM ANYWAY AS SUPERVISOR OF THE OWL, GIVING HIM MAJOR CONTROLL OVER WHO DID AND DID NOT GET THE JOBS. NOW BROTHERS AND SISTERS THE POINT WE AM GOING TO MAKE---"THIS IS WHEN ALL THE OWL VIOLATIONS OCCURED"---UNDER HIS WATCH. BECAUSE OF HIS GROSS INCOMPETENCE LA COSA NOSTRA EXPANDED ITS INFLUENCE OVER THE 11 YEARS HE WAS SUPERVISOR AND HE SHOULD NOW BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AS PER THE CONSENT DECREE

I would ask that if you would like to leave a comment that you think of Local 157 Blogspot as your online meeting hall and that you wouldn’t say anything on this site that you wouldn’t, say at a union meeting. Constructive criticism is welcome, as we all benefit from such advice. Obnoxious comments are not welcome.
