McCarron Dissolves 15 Pacific Northwest Locals

At last nights meeting of Local 157 brother Mike Bilello asked Supervisor Spencer about the dissolution and merging of 15 Local Unions in the Pacific Northwest. Spencer claimed he had no knowledge of it and he didn't want to discuss it.

Below is General President McCarron letter to Vice President Mike Draper, outlining the plan to dissolve and form new local unions affiliated with the Pacific Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters.

Further proof why you can't trust anything Frank Spencer has to say!

G.P.s Notice With Interim Officers

Pursuant to our General President’s decision if you have been a Carpenter in Local 247, 1715, 306, 1388, 1273, 1065, 1001, 1707, 2067 or a Carpenter in a mixed local in the Oregon and SW Washington bargaining area, you are now a charter member of Carpenters Local 156. Local 156 will be located at 276 Warner Milne Road, Oregon City, OR 97045. Meetings are the second Saturday of each month at 11am.

  3. Rich, I lost my notes from the meeting on the train ride home. Let me get my thoughts together and I will post what happen at the meeting.

Also I know you have not agreed with Anon, but let me say this...I did meet him at the meeting and I wish we had video of him, The guy was on a mad tear attacking Spencer. It was verbal fisticuffs and Anon won the match, He left Spencer looking silly unable to answer his questions.

You would have love to have been there!

  4. I am going to file a complaint with the DOL on the mergers as a member of the UBC. In my opinion the right to dissolve under 6a is only legal and to be used after a Trusteeship is imposed under the statutes of the LMRDA. I want to force the DOL to make a ruling on it.
If McCarron and the UBC can dissolve locals at will why do we have trusteeships statues at all. The LMRDA statutes are not there just to allow an International to impose trusteeships. They are there to protect our locals from being seized and raped by an International just as McCarron is doing now. This scum is bypassing the Trusteeship and going right to the rape.Anybody agreeing and willing to make a joint effort let me know.
    Lets test the waters

  5. Just to let you guys know in the nw, that this is happening nation wide.Oh yeah, they probably told you after they screwed you. All of us just got screwed in Kansas City, but only ellected officials of 6 locals know about it. Letter was sent to us 4 days prior to meeting to be there. They couldn't tell us when letters were going to be sent to all members,or any of the details of what was going to happen to union halls. They did know who was going to which of the 2 locals. That's a relief at least they know something. Wish I could start something not knowing anything and make stuff up as I go.

I would ask that if you would like to leave a comment that you think of Local 157 Blogspot as your online meeting hall and that you wouldn’t say anything on this site that you wouldn’t, say at a union meeting. Constructive criticism is welcome, as we all benefit from such advice. Obnoxious comments are not welcome.
