  2. DOES IT EVER STOP WITH THIS CERTIFICATION CRAP? ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN A STEWARD FOR AT LEAST THE PAST TEN YEARS KNOWS THAT WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS CERTIFICATION SHIT 3 OR 4 DIFFERENT TIMES. EVERY FEW YEARS THEY HAVE MORE CLASSES FOR US TO TAKE, AND ANY CERTIFICATION PRIOR IS MEANINGLESS. HOURS UPON HOURS FOR WHAT? THERE IS NOTHING EXTRA FOR THE STEWARD EXCEPT THE BLAME WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG. NO INCENTIVES WHATSOEVER. SHOT GUN LICENSES, LASER LICENSES. ALL COST TIME AND MONEY - AND FOR WHAT? A LAYOFF AT THE END OF THE JOB, THAT'S WHAT. YOU'RE BETTER OFF BEING A COMPANY COOPERATOR. AT LEAST YOU STAY WORKING, AND YOU DON'T NEED TO PAY FOR ANY LICENSES. THE LASER LICENSE IS THE BIGGEST JOKE OF ALL. LASERS ARE ALL OVER EVERY JOB. MOST OF THESE COMPANY BALLLICKING BASTARDS SUPPLY THEIR OWN NOW. NOTHING IS SAID ABOUT THAT, LIKE NOTHING IS SAID ABOUT THEM NOT HAVING LICENSES FOR THOSE LASERS. THE STEWARD HAS TO HAVE A LICENSE, THOUGH. THE STEWARD HAS TO PAY $60 OR $70 BUCKS FOR ONE, AND HAS TO SPEND 4 FUCKING NIGHTS IN A CLASS TO BOOT. I GUESS THE STEWARDS LICENSE IS CONSIDERED A COMMUNITY LICENSE. IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. I SAY, DON'T TAKE THEIR CLASSES. CREATE A SHORTAGE OF STEWARDS. A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO THEY WERE SENDING OUT GUYS WHO WEREN'T EVEN STEWARDS. STEWARDS WAIT AT LEAST A MONTH ON THAT LIST ANYWAY, UNLESS YOU PUT DOWN EVERY SKILL THERE IS TO PUT DOWN. THESE FUCKS JUST MAKE EVERYTHING HARD ON THE MEMBERS AND ACT LIKE THEY'RE DOING ALL THESE GREAT THINGS. I WONDER IF ALL THESE B.A.'S HAVE ALL THERE CERTIFICATIONS. I'D GO TO ALL THE CLASSES IF I MADE THEIR MONEY, AND NEVER HAD TO WORRY ABOUT EMPLOYMENT. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT WHAT THEM USELESS BASTARDS DO, WHICH IS NOTHING. THE UNION LEADERS WORK FOR THE CONTRACTORS NOW. NOT THE MEN. BELIEVE THAT. HOOK UP WITH A COMPANY IF YOU CAN, AND JUST TRY TO MAKE AS MUCH MONEY AS YOU CAN. LEGALLY, OF COURSE. DO NOTHING TO HELP THESE #$%&*#, BECAUSE THERE WILL NEVER BE ANYTHING TO BENEFIT THE MEMBER ANYMORE.

    Dear VOC370:

I just saw the video you posted on YouTube! Great!!!

You should know that we, the people working at and for EMPAC, absolutely admire the great job all of you are doing on the construction site – we think the whole project is really a statement of craftsmen expertise and excellence!

I had an idea a couple of years ago, which I am sorry to say I was not able to realize: Having someone come onto the construction site once a month and take pictures of all people working on EMPAC – one head shot and one shot of their hands actually building that “monster of a building”. And then have all those pictures displayed along one of the long corridor. Too bad, I was not able to pull this project off.

It is hard for us to express to everyone on the construction site how much we appreciate what you are doing – because what you usually here from our end is just “nagging” – if you hear anything from us at all … Maybe we find a way to express to you what we really feel. At least I personally am highly impressed by what’s being done.

Maybe you can talk to me when you see me on the construction site? Are you still around? I am the tall guy with grey beard and what’s left of a pony tail … and I am usually either giving tours through the building or wander about and look at things .. would be great if you just tell me “I am VOC370”.

And if you are still around on the construction site – would you be so kind and tell the other guys how much we appreciate the work you are all doing – appreciate is actually to weak a word, can’ think of a better one, maybe you can…. Thanks a lot, Johannes

  11. I attended the Local 157 nomination meeting Monday did anyone notice that the room went silent when Patrick Brennan the former Trustee of local 157 was nominated for delegate?
