Dear Brothers and Sisters:
The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America is committed to keeping you fully updated on key decisions and activities that impact our locals and councils around the United States. Therefore, I want to inform you that effective today, the Empire State Regional Council of Carpenters (ESRCC) will merge into the New Jersey Regional Council of Carpenters (NJRCC) and be renamed the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC).
In this down economy and changing marketplace, it is important that union carpenters remain competitive. After a comprehensive analysis of the ESRCC and NJCCC operations, it was concluded that the membership of the region would be best served by one streamlined regional council organization.
Our business is to put our members to work, to strive to create plentiful work opportunities and make sure they are paid fair wages. The merging of ESRCC into NJRCC will bring many benefits to our members, including more organizational efficiency, enhanced market share and an increase in the value of the union carpenter brand throughout both regions.
The findings of the analysis also concluded that in order to increase market share and man-hour opportunities, there should also be a consolidation and/or re-chartering of local affiliates within each state. These new affiliates include:
* Local 290 – Formerly ESRCC Local # 7
* Local 279 – Formerly ESRCC Local # 11 and 19
* Local 291 – Formerly ESRCC Local # 370 and 1042
* Local 277 – Formerly ESRCC Local # 281 and 747
* Local 276 – Formerly ESRCC Local # 289, 85 and 66
* Local 255 – Formerly NJRCC Locals # 121, 393, 542, 623, 1489, 1743, 2018 and 2250
* Local 254 – Formerly NJRCC Locals # 31, 155, 455, 620, 781 and 1006
* Local 253 – Formerly NJRCC Locals # 6, 15, 124 and 1342
* Local 252 – Formerly ESRCC #42 and NJRCC Locals # 821 and 2098
* Local 251 – Formerly NJRCC Locals # 29 and 2212
Due to their expanded council wide jurisdiction, current NJRCC Local Unions #178 and #39 will remain intact, with their jurisdiction expanding into the former ESRCC region.
With this merger of ESRCC into NJRCC, Michael Capelli will remain Executive Secretary-Treasurer to ensure a smooth and seamless transition. I have asked Mike to draft a comprehensive plan outlining the council operations of the newly expanded organization within 30-days. Executive Secretary-Treasurer Capelli’s office can address any questions or inquiries you may have regarding this matter, and later this month, Mike will be providing you with additional background information about the Northeast Council.
The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters is an exciting opportunity for our union. While initial growing pains are likely to occur, the potential benefits far outweigh those concerns. I ask that you join me in making this transition to a more dynamic council a positive experience for all. Our commitment to you remains the same: to ensure openness, transparency and accountability in council operations while representing the best interests of our membership.
Fraternally,
Frank Spencer
Vice President

ReplyDeleteGO F... YOURSELVES you low life scum bastards
I have been a member of Local #19 for over 10+ years. I am shocked over this merger! Nothing was ever mentioned during our union meetings, and questions were always averted under the good of the order. How is this going to effect locals 19 & 11? And how will you instill, in our members, the the truth and security that a brotherhood "should" consist of? I feel cheated and betrayed.
