JOSEPH OLIVIERI the former executive director of the Association of Wall, Ceiling, and Carpentry Industries of New York and a former trustee of the benefit funds for the New York City District Council of Carpenters was found guilty of perjury, after a one-week jury trial on Oct. 26.
According to the evidence presented at trial, OLIVIERI lied under oath about his ties to the Genovese Organized Crime Family, as well as his ties to a union contractor that was defrauding the Carpenters Union benefit funds while OLIVIERI was a trustee.
OLIVIERI was found guilty of one count of perjury, for testimony he gave during a deposition taken in a Civil RICO case brought by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York against the Carpenters Union. He is the 10th defendant found guilty in this case, and is the only one who went to trial.
As a result of the guilty verdict, OLIVIERI, 56, faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison. OLIVIERI is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge VICTOR MARRERO on January 21, 2011, at 3:30 p.m.
Below is the trial transcript.

You're welcome John.
ReplyDeleteDan, good work getting the transcript, very interesting reading!
ReplyDeleteI love how Scott Danielson came up through the corrupt mafia controlled local 257.
ReplyDeleteAfter 10 years in the field he was assigned to be OWL supervisor. With a HS diploma and "some college" he becomes the 3 highest paid official at the district council.
He headed a "computer" that was routinely circumvented by District Council officials to "supply the demand" for corrupt stewards to Nastasi, Eurotech, On Par, Commercial Construction, and many other corrupt contractors. That's a pretty ****ty performance on the job. Yet he has been making over $200,000 in salary. WHY? HOW?
To add injury to insult, he is the guy in charge of catching the bad guys?
Who in the District Council though that this was a good decision, a good fit?
Can someone tell us who put Danielson, Barry Security Guards, and Rambo as anti-corruption team?
Positions that should had gone to people less known and less associated with Unity Team.
Everyone should read this: a little hard to follow because of format, but it's worth printing 200+ pages.
ReplyDeleteTo read about Greaney start at page 733.
All I can say, Thank You Walter Mack! You made a difference. Without you, we would till had these rats in our union. Once I read everything, I will post all questions that arise from this case.
I hope RO Walsh is busy investigating. In my mind, Scott Danielson and Stu Grubois should be at top of list.
All On Par and Commercial Drywall stewards/supers/foremen MUST be fully investigated. All griviances that Oliveri & Greaney touched should be dealt by Mack. Union conventions used as personal drug fueled gateaways.
WHO was there with Greaney and Forde? Super Bowl Tickets, who went with Greaney?
Danielson needs to explain HOW he didn't noticed his OWL being defrauded to supply Murray with friendly stewards. what a fucking mess. and this is only ONE CASE, a handful of contractors, can you all just imagine just how many millions of dollars our families have been cheated out of? sick.
I hate how much money this is costing all of us. I hope members wake the fuck up.
so OBVIOUS why Unity Team wanted Callahan. Single handily the biggest corrupt blow to the union. just imagine if Mack was allowed to do his job. Sneaky Pete, we don't forget how you fandango us with "The I.I is so damn expensive."
ReplyDeleteLisa Zonberg and Murry
Q. Do you know whether that company was investigated by Walter Mack?
A. He was one of the first.
Q. What effect, if any, did Walter Mack's presence have on On Par?
A. Horrible, because it was when he came, he changed the whole -- the way that I was running my business.
Q. Can you explain that? Explain what was going on.
A. Well, he was -- he was subpoenaing the carpenters to come in and to talk to them, to talk to him and his investigators. He was bringing in the shop stewards, so the shop stewards all got scared, or some of them got scared. And then he told the business agents after my subpoena to check my jobs daily and every Saturday that we worked.
Will there be justice for the Rank & File? Will the contenders for furture EST step up and demand restitution on our behalf? Will they demand that the membership be made whole? Will they plead the case for the Carpenters who were fleeced? Show us what you are made of if you want our vote! There will come a time when we once again have our rights restored! Do not miss this most important opportunity to show the Rank & File your grit! Who among you will rise to speak on our behalf? Remain silent at your own political peril! It is a time for Real Leaders!
