Local 2287 executive delegate-business representative, Michael Zemski and president-business representative, Jeffrey Passante were suspended without pay on April 15, for allegedly stealing petty cash and using the locals credit card for personal use. The extend of the financial wrong-doing has not been made public. Sources say both men have refused to answer questions by the Independent Investigator, William Callahan. It is not known if formal charges will be filed against the two men or an independent financial audit ordered for the local. UBC supervisor Frank Spencer has no official comment and has not placed the local under supervision.

I would ask that if you would like to leave a comment that you think of Local 157 Blogspot as your online meeting hall and that you wouldn’t say anything on this site that you wouldn’t, say at a union meeting. Constructive criticism is welcome, as we all benefit from such advice. Obnoxious comments are not welcome.
I cannot believe the stupidity of these two! Why is great jobs, with great pay, and expenses, and benefits not good enough? So many of our Office holders fall to GREED. Spencer has no comment? Frank your silence speaks louder than your lack of supervision. All office holders need to answer members questions.....stop the crap, and earn your bloated salary. Shame on all you thieves! Clean this place now!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFunny how these two came in screaming change in 1998. The men they replaced - the old regime - ~never we accused of any theft & didn’t make 6 figure salaries these two did!

according to a couple of delegates from 2287 Zemski never spent a dime not approved. The credit card spending was all pissante and now (yesterday) he has resigned as president of 2287. He hid the bill too and hid the few payments from the trustees. Never wrote checks, but paid over the phone. And there was no petty cash issue. zemski should be allowed to come back and do his job immediately. The man is clean like he always said. the trustee who found this stuff and brought it to the council should get a raise!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, does pissantes resignation as president of 2287 mean that now spencer can fire him as business agent and be done with all the nonsnse?
ReplyDeletethe trustee has resigned and retited
ReplyDeleteI checked with the delegates at 2287 and none of the trustees have resigned and if they found this they dont need to. just a thought from an interested bystander.
