Changes Job Referral Department
Effective January 1, 2010, carpenters on the Out of Work List will have to be available to receive a call from the Job Referral Office between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m, Monday to Friday. Members(2)
BA should be out in the fields checking the stewards, double checking steward reports, checking Union cards, visiting non-union projects (see any familiar faces?), evaluate projects, investigate unfair firings, concerned yourselves with the issues that affect the carpenters working. Visit the companies bouncing checks, working through lunch, dicking apprentices, hiring quasi-union men: THERE IS PLENTY OF WORK FOR Y'all and all that walking may be good for your hearts (if you have one).
They cannot be too happy about this: they loss their power to have their say on who gets to work where. Many of the BAs are going to lose their lappers. No job for me, no kissing ass for you!
There are issues that arise from this change, but kuddos to sticking it to all the bloated, lazy, corrupt BAs who waived the job carrot for way too long.
OWL, you need desperate lappers? Who knows, you may get a division of the house, and they can elect you as class president! He who gets you a job has the power. Everyone is going to get OWL envy.
This can be a really bad thing! What do you do when companies are'nt matching men! How are the companies going to be held responsible to maintain the match. Companies all across the city are going to be playing games,Calling in less men than their supposed to off the list.. Shorting "the match" a couple of men here,a couple of men there..
Atleast when the ba's had the authority to send men to a job (from the list) the match would be in place!
I would ask that if you would like to leave a comment that you think of Local 157 Blogspot as your online meeting hall and that you wouldn’t say anything on this site that you wouldn’t, say at a union meeting. Constructive criticism is welcome, as we all benefit from such advice. Obnoxious comments are not welcome.
I like...I decided.
